Maldito Chef was a book created for chef Christopher Carpentier. The idea was to make a cookbook that didn't behave very much like a cookbook.
Typography rules throughout, but the rules are regularly broken. Rather than forcing every recipe into the same structure, each spread was allowed to develop a personality of its own—changing scale, composition and rhythm according to what was happening on the page.
The result is a book that moves constantly between order and disorder. Every spread is a little world of its own, which seemed rather appropriate for a chef who was never particularly interested in doing things the conventional way.
