Diablo — Vino & Fuego was conceived as a restaurant identity built around two elemental pleasures: wine and fire. The name Diablo also carries an immediate association with Chilean wine culture through Casillero del Diablo, adding another layer of meaning to a restaurant where wine plays a central role.
The identity was bold, provocative and slightly irreverent, playing with the imagery of fire, temptation and the devil, brought vividly to life through illustrations by the brilliant Mariano Ramos. Within this discourse, Ernest Hemingway’s line “Wine is the most civilized thing in the world” provided a deliberate counterpoint: civilization and temptation, refinement and fire, brought together around wine.
The result was a strong and instantly recognisable identity that extended throughout the restaurant, from signage and menus to the graphic elements that shaped the experience of the place.
