Francisco “Pancho” Baettig, one of Chile’s most renowned winemakers, invited me to design the labels for his personal wine projects.
The more recent labels, which appear first here, take a quieter approach, borrowing something from the restraint and elegance of the great wines of Burgundy. There is very little going on, deliberately so. Typography, proportion and material do most of the work.
The earlier labels went in quite a different direction. They were purely typographic, with the Denomination of Origin (DO) taking centre stage. Rather than treating the DO as information that normally sits somewhere on the label, I wanted to turn it into the label itself.
